Full Avengers: Doomsday Cast Announcement Breakdown

Marvel fans were treated to a live stream on the Marvel Entertainment YouTube Account, though the video ended up being over 5 hours long, it revealed the full cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday cast. Now that we have the Avengers: Doomsday Cast, it gives fans an idea on the direction the Russo Brothers are planning to go down for the Fifth Avengers movie.

During the live stream, fans watched as set chairs were shown on screen, every twelve or so minutes a new chair revealed itself, showing another cast member. At first, the Avengers: Doomsday cast seemed to be obvious but as the video went on, fans were given some incredible treats. In this article, we will go through each Avengers: Doomsday cast member and breakdown the Who, What, When, Where and Why?

The Avengers: Doomsday Cast

Chris Hemsworth/Thor

As the only original Avenger member that makes up the cast, Chris Hemsworth will be reprising his role as the God of Thunder, Thor. This is the first Marvel project since Avengers: Infinity War where Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston share the screen and this may be the project where Loki and Thor reunite. Thor’s current place in the MCU is with his adoptive daughter, Love, whom he met during the events of Thor: Love and Thunder.

With Thor essentially off world and partially retired, it will be interesting to see how he will play a role now that he has joined the Avengers: Doomsday cast. Chris Hemsworth began this Avengers: Doomsday cast stream and with him being the last Original Avengers, he may become one of the lead Avengers during the film along with the new Captain America.

Vanessa Kirby/Invisible Woman

The first Fantastic Four member to be mentioned during this stream and the member that is rumoured to be at the forefront of The Fantastic Four: First Steps film coming this July. With Kirby joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast, this marks the first time we see the Avengers and Fantastic Four interact in film history. There is not much to say about her role in Avengers: Doomsday as of yet but it will be exciting to see her interact with Doctor Doom, if not already done so in the Fantastic Four film.

Anthony Mackie/Captain America

We then get to the supposed leader of the Avengers, the new Captain America. With Mackie joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast, this ties into the events of Captain America: Brave New World where Mackie was asked by President Ross to rebuild the Avengers. It can be assumed that Captain America, following his latest film, will in fact rebuild the Avengers and will lead them against Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.

Sebastian Stan/Winter Soldier

At this moment within the MCU, Bucky has become a congressman and we will watch his story continue in Thunderbolts* coming this May. With Stan joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast, and as proven with the rest of the casting, he will bring the entire Thunderbolts team with him. It could be that during Thunderbolts*, Bucky will start working closely with Sam Wilson and may even help create an Avengers team for Sam to lead during Avengers: Doomsday. The Avengers: Doomsday cast indicates that Bucky will join the Thunderbolts with Sam’s few heroes to create the New Avengers.

Letitia Wright/Black Panther

After her becoming the Black Panther, Shuri returns and joins our Avengers: Doomsday cast and it may be that she brings another hero along with her, which will be mentioned later. It could be that during Avengers: Doomsday we see a smaller version of a 616 Illuminati with Captain America, Bucky, Shuri and possibly Thor making up this group who essentially keep an eye on the Earth with the possibility of the West Coast Avengers being involved.

Further to this, we could then have this group create the New Avengers to face Doom or even the X-Men. Having the Wakandans join the Avengers: Doomsday cast would be interesting as Wakanda has since moved away from the rest of the world after many countries start targeting Vibranium around the world.

Paul Rudd/Ant Man

One of the Avengers that fought in the Battle of Earth in Avengers: Endgame and, more recently fought Kang the Conqueror in the Quantum Realm. With Scott Lang joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast it is possible that he will be a pivotal character now that he has knowledge of Kang and other universes. Similarly to his role in Avengers: Endgame, his experience in the Quantum Realm may prove useful for the Avengers, especially if the rumours of Doomsday being a race to Loki are to be believed.

What is interesting is that Evangeline Lily, who plays the Wasp is not joining the cast. As mentioned, she may be involved in a minor capacity as opposed to the rest of this list, however, it may be that she will stay behind in San Francisco whilst Scott joins the rest of the Avengers against Doom. Although, you would think that the Avengers would need all the help they can get.

Wyatt Russell/US Agent

The second Captain America joins the Avengers: Doomsday cast and this would be the first time since the Falcon and the Winter Soldier that John Walker has interacted with Sam Wilson. Now that Sam has been Captain America for a few years and after John Walker likely redeems himself during the Thunderbolts* it’ll be interesting to see these two characters, now further along in their journeys, now meet each other again.

US Agent may even have some contention with Sam, wanting to prove himself to him to prove that his time as Captain America was not worthless. This will create an interesting dynamic to this new Avengers team and will hopefully be explored with Wyatt Russell joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast.

Tenoch Huerta Mejia/Namor

The leader of Talokan has joined the Avengers: Doomsday cast after previously playing as an antagonistic role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Namor is a very exciting character to see on this list and is likely brought into the battle through Shuri. Namor and Shuri decided to have a truce towards the end of Wakanda Forever which Shuri seems to be taking advantage of here. What else is interesting is that Talokan is not a publicly known location to the rest of the world yet, meaning that this will be the first time Namor has truly interacted with the rest of the world besides Wakanda.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach/The Thing

Another Fantastic Four member, Ben Grimm joins his fellow teammates in this Avengers: Doomsday cast. Now Ben will likely move into Earth 616 with the rest of the Fantastic Four and will be replacing the Hulk as the “big and strong” character of this team of heroes. Ben, being a sympathetic and kind soul may be useful for the team to find their footing in the battle against Doom. And if this film is truly an Avengers vs X-Men movie then it is likely that Ben will avoid fighting heroes from other universe so as not to risk the destruction of an entire world.

Simu Liu/Shang-Chi

Now the new master of the Ten Rings, Shang-Chi has joined the Avengers in this Avengers: Doomsday cast stream. What is noticeable is that Shang-Chi was recruited by Wong, Bruce Banner and Captain Marvel, some of the last remaining heroes on Earth, however none of these characters have been mentioned during the stream.

It could be said that maybe Wong will be part of the plot but will not play a major role, hence why he was not mentioned. How Shang-Chi becomes involved is unknown but it will be cool to see how his use of the Ten Rings will be used during the battle against Doom and possibly against the X-Men.

Florence Pugh/Yelena Bolova

As the new Black Widow and as a founding member of the Thunderbolts, Yelena joins the Avengers: Doomsday cast and will likely be given a role similarly to her predecessor Natasha Romanoff. Yelena will hopefully have a larger role and be an important part of the Avengers joining up and facing the threat of Doom.

Kelsey Grammer/Beast

The first X-Men character to be mentioned during the Avengers: Doomsday cast, Kelsey Grammer returning as Beast from The Marvels post credit scene. Having Beast return and joining the X-Men characters is a real treat and it is possible that Monica Rambeau will make an appearance as well.

Lewis Pullman/Sentry

The Golden Guardian has joined the Avengers: Doomsday cast with Bob Reynolds only just having his MCU debut in the Thunderbolts* movie coming this May. Sentry will be one of the New Avengers’ heavy hitters, especially with the absence of Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch this time around.

With Sentry as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, he will be vital in taking down Doom or whatever threat comes their way due to his vast amount of power. However, it could be that having Sentry fight alongside the Avengers, may risk the reappearance of the Void but this all depend on how the Thunderbolts* plot proceeds.

Danny Ramirez/Falcon

Captain America’s new wingman, Falcon was recently caught in an explosion during Captain America: Brave New World and is currently recovering. However, it’s obvious that he will recover by the time Avengers: Doomsday releases and fight alongside his own Captain America once again. It’ll be nice to have a Captain America and Falcon fighting with the Avengers again.

Joseph Quinn/Human Torch

Hot head of the Fantastic Four is also joining his fellow Fantastic Four members in this Avengers: Doomsday cast stream and will likely be one of the more comedic characters of the group. This film will mark the first instance of the Fantastic Four and Avengers interacting and having Johnny interact with certain characters will be a joy to see. It is a shame that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man does not make up as part of this Avengers: Doomsday cast as many fans have wanted to see these characters interact on screen for years.

David Harbour/Red Guardian

With many fans theorizing his death in the new Thunderbolts*, it seems that the Red Guardian has also joined the Avengers: Doomsday cast. Just like Johnny Storm, Red Guardian will be another comedic character to join the Avengers and it will be interesting to see him interact with the current Captain America after his obvious jealousy towards the previous Captain America, Steve Rogers.

Winston Duke/M’Baku

With Shuri and Namor, comes M’Baku as the current ruler over Wakanda. During Avengers: Infinity War, the Wakandans were vital in protecting the Mind Stone from Thanos’ forces and with Shuri recruiting Namor to join the New Avengers, and with M’Baku joining the Avengers: Doomsday cast, we could see the Wakandan army assist the Avengers once more against the incoming threat of Doom.

Hannah John-Kamen/Ghost

The final Thunderbolts member to join the New Avengers, Ghost, having her first contact with Scott Land since the events of Ant Man and the Wasp. After the Blip, Ghost disappeared and Scott had not been in contact with her ever since. It’ll be interesting to see these two interact once more and having Ghost fight alongside the rest of the heroes will be interesting to see, especially in terms of choreography. Furthermore, if she was to face a certain X-Men character who can teleport, this would be something very interesting to see on screen.

Tom Hiddleston/Loki

The God of Stories joins the Avengers: Doomsday cast and may be the macguffin of the movie. Rumours have suggested that Avengers: Doomsday will feature a race to Loki, likely the heroes will be getting to him first to warn him of Doom’s arrival. After the Loki series, Loki has taken his throne as the keeper of the Multiverse, holding all of the timelines together. However, during Doomsday and the incoming threat of Doom there is no telling as to how Loki will fight back to protect what he has built.

Patrick Stewart/Professor X

X-Men legend, Patrick Stewart joins the Avengers: Doomsday cast. We previously saw the Earth 838 variant of Professor X during the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but this new version is likely either the 10005 Fox Version or the variant mentioned by Beast in The Marvels post credit scene if they are not both the same. It is such a pleasure to have Professor X back and joining alongside the Avengers against Doom sounds like a very exciting set up.

Ian McKellen/Magneto

Probably the biggest surprise of this Avengers: Doomsday cast is the return of Magneto who will likely play an antagonistic role in some capacity, however it could be that Magneto joins the Avengers and X-Men in their fight against Doom. We have not seen McKellen’s version of Magneto since X-Men: Days of Future Past, however a variant of him was recently mentioned in Deadpool & Wolverine. Regardless, it is exciting to see Magneto and Professor X share the screen once more and with Doom and the Avengers joining them as part of this Avengers: Doomsday cast, how can one not be hyped.

Alan Cumming/Nightcrawler

Another welcomed surprise is the return of Nightcrawler, a teleporting Mutant that has one of the most incredible opening scenes in X2. Having better effects and more modern filmmaking techniques, it will be such a treat to watch Nightcrawler on screen once again, especially after his appearance in X-Men 97.

Rebecca Romijn/Mystique

Magneto’s right hand lady, Mystique is also joining this flurry of returning X-Men characters. The last we saw of Romijn’s Mystique was in X-Men: The Last Stand where she was cured of her mutant abilities and Magneto betrayed and left her. Depending on how this variant will tie into the Fox movies, if they are separate of course, it’s again nice to see these original Fox characters return all together and fight alongside this newer generation of heroes, or against them.

James Marsden/Cyclops

The grand leader of the X-Men joins the Avengers: Doomsday cast and hopefully we will be able to get a more comic accurate appearance and demeanor this time around. James Marsden has been Cyclops in several projects, however his character was killed off during the events of X-Men: The Last Stand. Although Days of Future past amends this, he still dies within the rebooted timeline before the events of Logan.

It seems that the MCU is leaning towards Avengers: Doomsday doubling as an Avengers vs X-Men project and having Cyclops clash with Captain America will make for a great story.

Channing Tatum/Gambit

He made a name for himself in Deadpool & Wolverine and Marvel brought him back. Channing Tatum had fought for the role of Gambit for years and thankfully he’s now being brought back to face Doom alongside the Avengers. A deleted scene of Deadpool & Wolverine even hinted at Gambit’s return and it’s great that the scene was made true. It is unsure whether it is the same Gambit we saw in Deadpool’s third instalment, but having him back is more than enough.

Pedro Pascal/Mister Fantastic

Now the leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards. Many fans have been excited about the MCU version of Reed Richards and now that Doctor Doom is the villain for the fifth Avengers movie, fans finally get to see the Reed and Victor rivalry, something that many fans have been begging to see. Though it was obvious from Feige’s previous comments that the entire Fantastic Four team will return for Avengers: Doomsday, seeing his name alongside Channing Tatum and the next name was a treat.

Robert Downey Jr./Doctor Doom

And of course, the final name, the man of the hour, Robert Downey Jr’s infamous return as Doctor Doom. While many fans are excited to see him return, myself included, many are not. But, it cannot be argued that seeing Robert Downey Jr’s name alongside Pedro Pascal will hopefully be evidence that Doctor Doom and Reed Richards will be at the front of this story, especially with Tom Holland’s absence from the Avengers: Doomsday cast stream.

 

And that is it! We have the full Avengers: Doomsday cast now and fans have already jumped on the internet with a vast array of theories and thoughts. While I don’t believe these are the only characters that will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, this is definitely the main cast of characters that we will see during the movie. Hopefully we will see even more surprises before and during the movie but for now this was a great idea to build hype for Avengers: Doomsday beginning production.

Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release in theatres on May 2026.
